About Us

CONGREGATION

We are a community of faith dedicated to sharing the love of Christ and living out His teachings in the Kingdom of God.

Meet Us

We are a multicultural group of folks from different walks of life. Many retirees and many in the workforce. Different viewpoints. Our team reflects this.

Priest in Charge

The Rev. Margaret Pollock

The Rev. Margaret Pollock: By the grace of God I shepherd and lead this wonderful parish, St. Francis Goldsboro. Having been a priest for 27 years, this is my dream call. St. Franciscans have good hearts. We are always growing in faith and knowledge of God. We love to serve with joy. This is Jesus’ family. We become family by worshipping God together in the beauty of holiness, and caring for each other and the community. We are glad you are here.

Senior Warden

Paula Wills

St. Francis provides me with a family atmosphere and dear friends worshipping with like minds and hearts. I know this is somewhere that welcomes me with open arms, and I came from a different church tradition. I am valued for my individual talents and beliefs, and currently serve was senior warden of the vestry (the lay governing council).
Hunger Ministry

Patti Donnelly

While visiting sons in Goldsboro, I noticed Saint Francis in the woods, and after my husband’s passing, I moved here to be close to the boys. I was greeted graciously and never went to “shop around” for another church. I volunteer at the soup kitchen on Wednesdays and 4 Day Movement on Thursdays. I love cooking for my sons, and enjoy taking small meals and treats to church family. I also make cards for church birthdays and send many to Create Kindness in Arizona, which they send to hospitals, churches, and to the VA for soldiers needing support.
Flower Guild

David Powell

I have been attending St. Francis since my parents joined the church in the late 70’s. I grew up in the church and enjoy the grounds and the people of the church, many of whom I have known for years. I am a current member of the church Vestry and I have been an active member of our church choir and flower guild for several years now.
Lay Eucharistic Minister

Richard Valenzona

I love going to church here at St. Francis. People are so welcoming. They treat you like family. And I love to serve as a Eucharistic Minister to help and serve in the house of the Lord.
ECW President

Liz Meador

I came to St. Francis by way of friends who were members; we stayed because of a strong priest, compelling liturgy, and friendly, caring followers of Christ.
These people and their dedication are what I love about St. Francis.
They inspire me to share in the life of the church as a Vestry member, worship leader for Morning Prayer,   President of the ECW, member of the Hunger Ministry, and member of the Elevation team.
Thanks,
Liz
Worship Leader

Barrett Rae

St Francis came into my life when I was looking for an Episcopal Church in Goldsboro; and after visiting the different ones, I was drawn to St Francis.
I love the quietness and stillness of our worship space at St Francis.  Outside on the property and inside the sanctuary you can feel God’s presence with us.  The warm smiles and caring hearts of the members also radiate to others and show God’s love to each other and to visitors.
I am a member of the Vestry, Altar Guild, ECW, Hunger ministry, and serve as a Lay Eucharistic Minister (who serves at the altar) and Worship leader.
Parish Admin and Website Manager

Nikolaas Fishel

Originally, I joined thinking I would just be the hired help, but I have been welcomed to the St. Francis family with open arms and open hearts. Everyone is supportive and willing to help each other just as a family should! I am grateful I found a home away from home.

Our Purpose

We exist to love the way God loves, and to lift our hearts to the Lord in thanks and praise. Our purpose is to proclaim the Good News of God in Jesus Christ. We learn together what it means to be followers of Christ. This means that we find joy in serving each other, the community and the world.

Our Beliefs

We believe in One God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord. We believe in the Holy Spirit, which has been in the beginning and will be with the Father and the Son forever.

We believe that God is Love, and if it’s not about love, it’s not about God.

We believe that every living being is created in the  image of God and is a child of God. We vow to bless and respect the dignity of every human being. No exceptions. We believe that God’s saving grace is stronger than any sin or evil.

Our worship is heartfelt, feeds our souls, and brings us close to God. Prayer opens our souls to God, both individually and as the gathered people, the Church. Holy Communion, the Sacrament of Bread and Wine, Christ’s Body and Blood, binds us together and gives us life and strength for the coming days.

Together we learn what it means to be followers of Christ in the Kingdom of God. Doing this, we find joy in serving our dear friends in the Church, members of the community, and people in God’s wide world.
